Last month, HUD issued an updated notice for the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD). The updated notice extended program eligibility to Mod Rehab Single Room Occupancy (SRO) buildings. RAD allows public housing agencies and owners of other HUD-assisted properties to convert units to project-based Section 8. Properties that convert under this process can have longer contract terms, which provide more flexibility to address deferred maintenance issues.
