Financing 2-4 Unit Rental Buildings

A new Urban Institute study looks at the importance of two- to four-unit buildings in providing affordable rental housing, and the need for financing these properties. The Preservation Compact did its own evaluation on the challenges facing 2- to 4-unit properties, and created Community Investment Corporation’s 1-4 Unit Rental Redevelopment Loan Program as a result in 2013. The Chicago Community Loan Fund and Neighborhood Housing Services have also developed financing programs for 1-4 unit properties.
