Research and Resources to Preserve NOAH
The Preservation Compact and the Institute for Housing Studies (IHS) at DePaul University have compiled research and resources on Naturally Occurring Affordable Housing (NOAH) preservation strategies that address the unique challenges of stock, owners and markets.
As a result of a two-year research project, the Compact and IHS launched a new webtool to gather NOAH preservation tools across the country. This new tool enables practitioners, policymakers, and advocates to easily navigate and understand various NOAH preservation approaches from across different market types.
Users can filter programs and policies by location, strategy type, funding mechanisms, and implementation status to find relevant examples and learn from peer cities’ experiences in addressing NOAH preservation challenges.
Background
The NOAH Clearinghouse was created as a component of the NOAH Preservation Lab, which combines applied research with deep stakeholder engagement to investigate complex topics, and develop strategies to break through the challenges.
