Announcing the Affordable Housing Special Assessment Program

On February 7, 2022, the Preservation Compact joined the Cook County Assessor’s office and a host of partners to announce the new Affordable Housing Special Assessment Program. Read the Assessor’s Office press release here.

Thank you to our legislative champions and our partners at the Cook County Assessor’s Office, Illinois Housing Council, Housing Action Illinois, Metropolitan Planning Council, Enterprise Community Partners, and the many other organizations who helped make this incentive a reality! 

Here’s what you need to know: 

• Applications are open and can be found here.
• The application deadline is March 31, 2022.
• The Cook County Assessor’s office will host a series of informational webinars. The first webinar is Tuesday, February 15, 2022. Register and view webinar recordings here.
• There are three tiers of affordability
• Promotes investment in lower cost markets.
