Assisted Housing Map & Preservation Laws

To assist affordable housing advocates and preservation developers, the Compact developed the map and resources below as tools to encourage owners to renew their contracts, or find responsible preservation developers to buy the properties.

NOAH Preservation Research

The NOAH Clearinghouse was created as a component of the NOAH Preservation Lab updated and expanded in 2023 when PreserveNOAH.com was launched in collaboration with the Institute for Housing Studies (IHS) at DePaul University.

Single Room Occupancy (SRO) preservation

The Preservation Compact works directly with property owners and managers of Single Room Occupancy (SRO) housing units. SROs are a critical, but often overlooked, element of the affordable housing landscape in Chicago.

The Preservation Lab combines applied research with deep stakeholder engagement to investigate complex topics, and develop strategies to break through the challenges.
