The Preservation Compact Welcomes Maggie Cassidy!

I am honored to assume the role of Preservation Compact Director at Community Investment Corporation (CIC), and I am excited to share a bit about my journey and the experiences that have shaped my approach to housing and community development.

I officially began my position in the first week of December, coming to the Compact from the City of Chicago, where I worked with both the Department of Planning and the Department of Housing as Director of the City Owned Land System. My time at the City culminated in the roll-out of a brand new land sales and information platform, chiblockbuilder.com. This experience taught me the value of relational connections and a collaborative spirit.

Prior to joining the City, I was a Program Coordinator at Neighborhood Housing Services implementing the Troubled Building Initiative for 1-4 unit properties. Working in Troubled Buildings was a formative experience for me, shaping my understanding of the complexities involved in creating sustainable and thriving communities.

As our region grapples with the ongoing impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, the work of the Preservation Compact and our partners provides a steady hand. I am honored and grateful to be leading the fantastic TPC team, and eager to dive into the meaningful work of preserving affordable rental housing in Cook County.

In partnership,

Maggie Cassidy
